Dover Motor Speedway (formerly Dover International Speedway and Dover Downs International Speedway) is a race track in Dover, Delaware.
Nicknamed the “Monster Mile,” the track has hosted at least one NASCAR Cup Series race every year since 1969. Through 2022, it has hosted 104 NASCAR Cup Series races, one of only 10 tracks in the United States to have hosted 100 or more Cup Series events. Since its founding Dover Motor Speedway has also hosted IRL Indy Series and USAC races, along with NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series East races.
The track features a 1-mile concrete oval with 24-degree banking in the turns and 9-degree banking in the straightaways. Dover Motor Speedway is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports.
The track surface was changed from asphalt to concrete after the 1994 racing season.
In 2004, Dover Motor Speedway began awarding the Monster Trophy to its race winners, one of the most coveted prizes in motorsports.
In 2008, the famous Monster Monument at Victory Plaza was dedicated, honoring all of Dover’s past champions. The 46-foot-tall Monument, with a full-scale NASCAR Cup Series car placed in its right hand, is known throughout the sports world as the symbol of Dover Motor Speedway.
